Cruise and Maritime Voyages’ Ocean Countess sailed into Loch Linnhe, Scotland’s largest sea loch, and moored at anchor in Fort William earlier this week VIDEO.
The stopover was towards the end of an eight day cruise to Scotland which had departed Liverpool on May 29 but had a temporary setback later that night when it lost main engine power for three hours before full systems and services were restored.
According to local records, Ocean Countess which is 17,593 tonnes, 537ft long and 75ft wide, is the largest vessel to navigate up to Fort William.
Marketing manager, Mike Hall at CMV said ‘It was a memorable visit. Our passengers who had been enjoying Jubilee celebrations on board and were thrilled to see that the last ocean going paddle steamer The Waverley was also in port. It was fitting to be in the heart of the Scottish Highlands at this time which has always been so popular with Her Majesty the Queen.’
